While your pet is sedated, we can examine each tooth closely for abnormalities. We carefully clean and scale the gum line to check for pockets and disease. At South Paw Animal Hospital, we remove plaque and tartar using an ultrasonic scaler. The teeth are then polished, leaving a completely smooth surface on the tooth. This discourages plaque and bacteria from adhering to the rough tooth surface.
